About Junita
Contemplating all of life's complexities with the childish view and imaginative wonder from a tween's perspective, Junita knew she wanted to be an entrepreneur since she was 12 years old. Although she was unsure at that time of the steps necessary to pursue entrepreneurship, Junita was fascinated by the belief that if something didn't exist an entrepreneur could create it.
In July 2018, she launched Junita’s Jar, a cookie company creating conversations to educate and eliminate relationship violence against women. Building upon the rich traditions of using food to bring people together to connect and engage, Junita’s Jar represents both the sweet childhood memories of time spent in the kitchen with her family and the unpleasant adulthood memories from time spent in an abusive relationship and bringing those two things together to make a difference.
Junita knows firsthand that eating really good cookies makes you feel good and grasping the life-changing concept of hope makes you do good. In 2019, she delivered her signature TEDx talk, It All Begins With Hope, an inspirational message about using personal experiences to create positive change. As a tween, entrepreneurship was an idea which shaped her life long dreams. As an adult, entrepreneurship became an outlet to redeem her personal life story.
Junita's Story
Much more than a survivor of domestic abuse, Junita's story is one of resilience and love. She found strength baking the recipes of her childhood, which led to a purpose filled business. Junita was not only determined to create a better life for herself and her family, she also made a commitment to embrace hope for others.
