The startup is a NASA JPL spinoff to commercialize the novel Forward Error Correction (FEC) technology - Physical Layer Rateless Codec for Satellite Communications. The mission of the tech startup is to develop transformational satellite communications technology which provides excellent throughput enhancements and bandwidth gains along with superior energy efficiency.

The startup's novel FEC technology solutions will be offered as custom silicon ASICs or FPGA IP cores depending on the Satellite customer's needs. In Satellite Communications, Forward Error Correction (FEC) is a super critical communications technology. Current state-of-the-art approaches to FEC in Satellite Communications are based on standards such as DVB-S2X and CCSDS which require very demanding computational resources, memory resources and feedback resources. Rate-compatibility is a very important feature of FEC in Satellite Communications to avoid retransmissions. Current approaches provide rate-compatibility making use of demanding memory resources and feedback resources.

The startup is a NASA JPL spinoff developing the novel FEC technology for Satellite Communications - Physical Layer Rateless Codec, which is a set of computationally efficient baseband algorithms for encoding, modulation, demodulation, and decoding for data communications that have the potential advantage of higher throughput, lower computational costs, lower memory costs, and lower energy consumption.

About Amogh
Amogh Rajanna is the founder, president, and CTO of the tech startup TFWireless Inc. Prior to the startup, he was a Visiting Researcher at NASA JPL from 04/2019 – 09/2020.

He was a Senior Research Associate (08/2017 – 04/2019) at the School of Mathematics, University of Bristol, UK. He is an IEEE Senior Member. He received his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in 2011 and 2015, respectively. He is a recipient of the Early Career Researcher Kickstarter and Knowledge Transfer Secondment awards from EPSRC, UK. TFWireless is a recipient of the federal SBIR grant - NSF STTR Phase I award. TFWireless was awarded the ‘Launch Minnesota’ Phase I SBIR matching grant 2022. "Spirit of I-corps" award recipient at NSF SBIR I-corps program Fall 2022 (Selected from among 23 NSF SBIR Phase I awardee startups). TFWireless was awarded ‘Defense Innovation Award’ - Defense Tech Connect 2022.
