Madelyn Pung '16
B.A. '16 (College of Liberal Arts)
Madelyn is a founding member and part-owner of Hippy Feet, a Minneapolis-based social organization that operates around the mission of giving back. While studying strategic communication and political science at the University of Minnesota, her passion for entrepreneurship fused seamlessly with her desire to act upon social issues that change lives. During her final semester, she joined with business partners, Michael Mader, Sam Harper and Andrew McDonough to bring life to a vision that would provide short-term and long-term solutions for the homeless community. With every purchase of Hippy Feet socks, another pair is donated to a person in need and employment is created for homeless youth. Hippy Feet’s products are all made in the USA using environmentally friendly materials. As of December 2017, Hippy Feet has donated more than 10,000 pairs of socks to homeless shelters throughout the Midwest and created more than 20 pop-up employment opportunities for youth who are transitioning out of homelessness, into the workforce, and back on their feet. Hippy Feet invites you to join the mission to give back, one foot, and one job at a time.
