About Anders Genealogical Services
Anders Genealogical Services uncovers lost and forgotten family and community histories. We bridge the gap between past and present by restoring lost voices and sharing their stories. We also create physical keepsakes and exhibits to keep these stories and ancestors in the collective memory for generations to come.

About Mica
Mica L. Anders is a professional genealogist and artistic placemaker with almost 20 years of experience specializing in African American and Midwestern U.S. research. As the first-ever history fellow at the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum, she conducted pioneering research on early African American communities in Southeast Minnesota, work that earned her a Minnesota Genealogical Society Pioneer Award.

Holding an MFA in visual art, Mica combines genealogy and creativity to develop compelling family history narratives for clients across the U.S., Canada, Jamaica, and the United Kingdom. She doesn't just build family trees; she brings ancestors' stories to life through detailed historical context and visual storytelling.

Beyond individual client work, Mica teaches genealogy classes and presents at regional and national conferences, sharing methods for navigating complex historical records. She also collaborates with museums and civic organizations to research, design, and curate community history exhibits that spotlight underrepresented groups in local history.

Her approach to genealogy emphasizes both academic rigor and emotional connection, helping people understand their past and its impact on their present identity. Mica is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and continues to develop resources for researchers exploring African American family histories.
