About James
James A. Cooper Jr., MA is a visionary leader, impact strategist, and dedicated advocate for equity in education and the workforce. He is the Founder & CEO of James Cooper Consulting LLC, a career and workforce development firm, and Black, Educated, Successful, Thriving (B.E.S.T.) Young Male Enrichment Program, a Minnesota-based nonprofit he launched in 2024 to empower young Black men to thrive in school, career, and life.

A proud Liberian immigrant, first-generation college graduate, and lifelong community builder, James blends lived experience and professional expertise to create transformative opportunities for historically marginalized communities. His work centers on college and career access, workforce development, culturally responsive youth development, and systems change that expands pathways to success.

James holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Wilson’s Image College Scholarship.

Whether he’s empowering young Black men, advising institutions, or designing workforce solutions, James remains grounded in his purpose: as we rise, we must bring others with us.
