Jessica’s experiences through travel and education have provided her with a unique set of skills and a wide variety of knowledge of local and global cuisine. She brings flavors not only from some of the greatest cities in the U.S. but of Mexico, France, Italy, Spain, Jamaica, Ireland, Cuba, India and more into her dishes.
She recently launched Tijerina Global Spices where she toasts, grinds, and packages in a local non-profit commissary kitchen, and focuses on ethnic spice blends. Each spice blend contains zero added preservatives, zero added colors and zero added flavors. Herbs and spices are all that you will see in the ingredients. They are gluten free and vegan and they are salt free, allowing individuals to “salt to taste.” Several of the ingredients are procured from local MN farmers providing the freshest flavors for your dishes. The bold, potent aroma and flavor of each blend is significant, having been toasted and ground to order.
Jessica has partnered with many local businesses as a brand ambassador, educating the public both on ethnic and local food sustainability. You can find Jessica on Saturdays promoting the Northeast Minneapolis Farmer’s Market. She appears as a guest chef on ABC affiliate KSTP’s “Twin Cities Live.” In the summer you can find her managing the Minnesota Garlic Festival. One of her favorite activities is guiding guests through in-home culinary adventures or at local kitchen venues like Grand Fête, Nordic Ware and The Abundant Kitchen.
