Samy Slinger is the founder and owner of Jewelry by Samy, a Minnesota-based handmade jewelry brand rooted in creativity, community, and meaningful connection. A University of Minnesota alumna, Samy’s time at the U of M played an important role in shaping both her professional path and her appreciation for creativity as a form of expression, healing and connection.
Jewelry by Samy began as a small creative outlet and has grown into a full-time small business known for its thoughtfully designed, wearable pieces. Samy creates handcrafted jewelry inspired by Minnesota landmarks, local culture, nature, and everyday moments that feel personal and familiar. Her work includes polymer clay earrings, mixed-metal necklaces, engraved pendants, and other accessories, all made in small batches with a focus on quality, approachability, and modern design.
In addition to running her business, Samy is also an occupational therapist, a role that deeply influences her approach to both design and entrepreneurship. She regularly incorporates creativity into therapeutic settings, leading jewelry-making and art groups that encourage self-expression, confidence and connection. This background reinforces her belief that making things by hand can be both grounding and empowering — a philosophy that carries through every piece she creates.
Giving back is a core value of Jewelry by Samy. Samy sets aside a portion of her sales to donate and she regularly donates jewelry and craft kits to community organizations, especially during the holiday season. She is passionate about supporting local makers, fostering creative communities, and creating work that feels accessible and meaningful.
