About Sewist Sue
Creative sewing is a passionate theme in Sue Hall’s life. As a child and young teen she sat with both of her grandmothers, closely observing their skills with Scandinavian needlework and clothing construction, while gaining an appreciation for small details and fine textiles. Sue enjoyed sewing most of her clothing during high school and college. After initially considering a major in home economics, she studied child psychology during undergraduate years at the University of Minnesota graduating with a B.A. in ‘78 .

Sue’s sewing passion expanded into quilting and home decor sewing for the next several decades. Her professional career included nine years working in the corporate world, followed by eight years at home caring for her young children while completing a Master’s Degree in Education. Finally, twenty years teaching as an elementary educator brought her to retirement, allowing dreams of professional sewing to materialize.

Continually on a quest to find lovely fabric and current designs, Sue seeks new ways to incorporate them into beautiful pieces. Creating unique items sparks her desire to sew and make the next treasure, always with love. She enjoys variety and her items are created with machine sewing, embroidery, quilting, as well as all hand sewing methods. Moving to her new home in Stillwater, MN, allowed Sue space for her own sewing studio. Sewist Sue, Custom Sewing for Babies, Kids and Home was born.

Sue is thrilled to offer custom made baby items via the UMAA Marketplace, and looks forward to bringing joy to others through quality handmade products.
