About Wesley
Wes is a proud triple-Golden-Gopher – he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, his M.B.A., and his J.D., all from the University of Minnesota. Before graduating magna cum laude from UMN Law School, Wes was a National Finalist for the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court and recipient of the University of Minnesota Intellectual Property Award.
Wesley is a Registered Patent Attorney licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Wes is also a member of the state bars of Pennsylvania and Minnesota, and is the founding principal of Gallium Law, LLC. Wes' practice encompasses virtually all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, litigation, portfolio management, due diligence, and infringement and validity counseling. Wes takes pride in his clients' accomplishments. He is honored to have helped his clients secure large settlements with Fortune 100 companies, get acquired by some of the largest companies in the world, and build IP portfolios valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.
Wes has also achieved successful outcomes in federal court, most notably by securing numerous permanent injunctions, which his team then enforced against the world's most-prominent sales platform and its infringing products. Before attending law school, Wes worked for 12 years in various engineering-related capacities at Medtronic and GN ReSound, including as Chair of Medtronic's Released-Products Board. Wes later worked as an IP attorney with Baker Hostetler in Philadelphia. However, he ultimately discovered his true passion for entrepreneurship, having founded multiple businesses in the retail and the service industries.
In his spare time, Wes enjoys writing comedy sketches and jokes (for the stand-up act he swears he'll perform one day), playing cards, and hiking. He is an animal lover, a compassionate vegan, and an avid environmentalist. Wes was also an accomplished rower in college, going undefeated during the spring-1996 season until placing fifth in the Open 4 at the IRA national championship regatta. After college, Wes set an American record for longest-distance rowed in one hour on a rowing machine, and has run ten marathons, including two finishes at the Boston Marathon.
